Chandlers Keromax Q&As
Q: What are the key benefits of Chandlers Keromax?
A: Chandlers Keromax lowers carbon build-up; stabilises fuel; inhibits sludge formation; keeps fuel fresher, for longer; reduces service problems and improves system efficiency
Q: How does Chandlers Keromax work?
A: Chandlers Keromax has special ingredients that help avoid fuel degradation, deposits and other operating problems that routinely occur
Q: Can I mix Chandlers Keromax with the kerosene in my tank?
A: Yes, they will be completely compatible. Depending upon how much regular kerosene is already in you tank, the full may benefit may not be achieved until the second fill-up
Q: Will any warranties on my boiler and equipment be affected?
A: No, the product meets the same Fuel Standard (BS2869C2) as normal kerosene and therefore should not have any effect on any warranties
Q: Will there by any adverse effects to the product in very cold or very hot temperatures?
A: No, Chandlers Keromax will not be effected by extremes of weather, in fact this fuel will remain fresher for longer in very hot temperatures
Q: I have read that Chandlers Keromax works by avoiding deposits and operating
problems that can occur, but does it also instantaneously burn better in an existing clean system or have a higher energy content (e.g. calorific value)?
A: No, Chandlers Keromax has the same energy content as regular kerosene. It works by avoiding fuel degradation, deposits and other operating problems that routinely occur with systems operating overall several weeks. Instantaneous combustion improvers often have side effects that can cause damage to your boiler. Chandlers Keromax does not contain them.
Q: Will Chandlers Keromax be compatible with my boiler and do I need to consult my
boiler engineer or boiler manufacturer firstrently?
A: Chandlers Keromax meets the same BS 2869C2 specification and is therefore
compatible with your boiler if you are currently using regular kerosene. You do not need to consult your boiler manufacturer or heating engineer before using
Q: I have told my boiler engineer about ChandlersKeromax and he has some technical type questions that I cannot answer. Is there anyone we can talk to who can answer his questions?
A: Yes. Please let me know what the question is as I have some notes here that may be able to help. If not I can put you in touch with someone who will be able to address these questions.
Q: I have just taken delivery of Chandlers Keromax and forgot to ask a question at the time I ordered it. I normally also use Topanol as I have an AGA and wondered whether Chandlers Keromax will do the same job?
A: Topanol active ingredients are anti-oxidants. Some of the ChandlersKeromax
components are also anti-oxidants and are designed to work in a similar way. The presence of anti-oxidants help AGA deposit/carbon build-up type problems but is not guaranteed to cure all problems – just as in the same way Topanol is not a guarantee. They will however help. Chandlers Keromax also contains many other components that take reduce Char Value, improve operating efficiency and reduces the risk of boiler breakdown.
Q: Can I extend my boiler service intervals if I use Chandlers Keromax?
A: We recommend boilers are serviced at the prescribed service intervals e.g. every 12 months as safety and emission checks are also included in these procedures. Your heating engineer may notice lower levels of deposits after running on Chandlers Keromax.
Q: How long does it take for Chandlers Keromax to start providing the benefits?
A: Depending upon how much regular kerosene is already in the storage tank, the full may benefit may not be achieved until the second fill-up. Chandlers Keromax can be diluted by up to 40% (by volume) and still do its job effectively. The time taken for Chandlers Keromax to start making a difference depends upon the weather conditions and fuel consumed. In most cases, it will start to work in just a few weeks.
Q: Many technical folks believe in-service problems are dictated by a fuel’s Char Value (IP 10 Method). Does Chandlers Keromax have a lower Char Value?
A: Although some in-service problems have been attributed to high Char Values, we believe that the results from this test are highly variable and there is only a weak correlation with real world performance. The standard of boiler servicing is a key factor. Yes, Chandlers Keromax does generally have a lower Char Value than regular kerosene from similar sources.
